Part 2

This photo is made by Grete Stern. This surreal image was made with multiple images of a person turning on a light switch and a women acting as a the base of the lamp. In 1948 she was invited to work in a woman's' magazine called "Idilio". There she would illustrate with photo montages the section called "Psychoanalysis will help you". Her work consisted of representing the dreams that the readers would submit. Grete Stern worked nearly three years on this project and produced nearly 150 pieces. In Argentina this work is considered the most important of it's kind produced there.

Assignment 6

6A
Portrait in the studio:

This was my first time that I ever did a photoshoot and it was really fun. We used both lights where the strong one was to put light on the on or two subjects and the little one was to add any excess light that we might need, like to get the triangle to show up on the persons face. The lights gave more emphasy and emotion I find to the subject in the picture. The second picture in my album shows that, it has more of a slim light which kinda goes with the picture and the emotion that my classmate was trying to portray. Also, some u can see the shadows in the back which were a nice touch to some. I didnt use any special camera settings while doing this photoshoot and we mostly shot with a telephoto shot. Another thing is that I used straight or just a little bit of angle in all shots, though it didnt stop me from getting awesome pictures!

Assignment 5: Motion Research

Click here for my crazy photos! :D

Their was not anything to special about the technique that I used I took pictures with a high shutter speed for some of the pics and the others were normal, not slow shutter speed. The pics I took was pretty random, some came from inspiration like the water fountain one and just stole my friends do be my guinea pig errr.... I mean model :D. Two photos are the same because I wanted to show the difference of the shutter speed, the one with the metro and my phone spinning like a top.

Assignment 4

Original

Others

What I did using photoshop was that I played with mostly all of the effects, hue/saturation, darks, lighting effects and filters. I like the second one the most because of the effect it gives, I used the glowing edges, a blue hue/saturation, poster edges and a little tweak of the dark/light effects. It used simple filters yet it gave a beautiful picture. All of them used multiple filters to give different effects then you would usually get with different colors so they don't look like the default colors given. They all turned out better than i thought it would :D

Assignment 3

Original Image

Transformed

Using Picasa, I used most of the effects and a couple of tuning and basic fixes. A lot of those effects that I used were tint and glow with a bit of color temperature. My favorite picture is Transform1 because it utilizes many of the same effects used multiple times like glow, saturation and tint.

Assignment 2

Research

What kind of Photographs do these photographers make?

Irving Penn's photographs are still images and found objects where he places them in ways that were not though of before using different forms and arrangements using different types of light.

Edward Burtynsky takes photos of landscapes what were changed by people like mines or construction sites, also homesteads and buildings.

What makes their photographs interesting?

Irving Penn's photographs are interesting because of the use of light and the different uses of simple backgrounds and make the subject look good with the help of angled shots.

Edward Burtynsky's photos are interesting because of the of the natural scenary and lighting to make the subjects look awe inspiring.

Was there a specific concept or reason behind their photographs?

Edward Burtynsky's concept was to show how a "man's desire for prosperity, and the suffering we exact on the environment".

Irving Penn's concept was, I think, to be able to make anything into art because he says that "Photographing a cake can be art,".
